Bras & Breasts

Looking good means feeling good. Achieving a perfect fit creates a good look. Do you see where I'm going with this? Looking good is not about being a certain size or shape, it is about fitting your beautiful body in a way that flatters and makes you feel like a vixen.

Let's talk bras and breasts. Did you know that 85% of all women wear the wrong bra size or shape? Knowing this, it isn't surprising that 65% of women need more lingerie comfort. The average woman’s breasts change shape, size and distribution at least six times in her life! This is due to weight loss or gain, birth control or pregnancy, dietary changes, exercise, medications or age. A badly fitting bra can cause back problems, muscle tension, and even headaches. It can also result in the blockage of lymphatic drainage or poor circulation, which could lead to a breast disease.

Your bust has no muscle and depends on an outside source of support. Most of the common bras on the market are only covers, not support. Since 90% of the bra support is provided by the band, only 10% comes from the shoulder straps. During running, your breasts move an average of four inches in three different directions (up and down, side to side and forwards and backwards)! No wonder it can be painful or make you weary of black eyes. Wearing an encapsulated sports bra reduces breast movement by up to 73% compared with bare-breasted running.

One style of bra may fit one woman just right and be absolutely wrong for someone else, even though the size is the same. Each manufacturer has a slightly different method of sizing, so you just can’t be sure what size will work best for you. This is why it is important to measure even if you think you know your correct size.

Time has even changed our breasts. Over the past ten years breast size has grown from a 34B to a 36C because of the changes in our lifestyles, foods and additives, hormones and preservatives. J cup is now more common than DD cup was twenty years ago. Twenty years ago, the average age of a teen starting with her new bra was thirteen. Nowadays, girls are starting their first bras at eight. Since teens are still growing they should be fitted by a lingerie specialist once a year or after every noticeable growth spurt. A poorly fitting bra can lead to life long problems with posture and back pain.

So go ahead... find your perfect fit and embrace your beautiful body!
